Youmin Temple is located on the north side of Bayi Park in Nanchang City, on the east bank of East Lake. It was founded in the Liang Tianjian period of the Southern Dynasty (502-519). It was originally named Shanglan Temple. It was also renamed Dafo Temple in the first year of Taiqing (547) because of the trouble of dumpling when the temple was near a well. During the reign of Tang Kaiyuan (713-741), it was renamed Kaiyuan Temple. The temple has been repaired and rebuilt 7 times. In the 18th year of the Republic of China (1929), it was named Youmin Temple.
